Agave Isthmensis comes from the family of Asparagaceae and is noted for its common name “Dwarf Butterfly Agave”. A native of Southern Mexico, this plant reaches up to 12 inches in height. The leaves have a slightly gritty (rugose) texture and margins that have shallow rounded lobes with prominent dark reddish-brown teeth and a terminal spine. The flower stalk can reach to 6-7 feet tall with short side branches bearing yellow flowers. The Agave Isthmensis plant has blue-green fleshy leaves with pointed edges.
